Smith & Williamson's range of both onshore and offshore, FSA authorised or recognised, funds cover equities, cash and fixed interest. All our funds are ISA qualifying, with the exception of the Smith & Williamson Cash Fund.

Smith & Williamson Cash Fund

With 27 years experience working in the City, Beverley Purkiss manages the Smith & Williamson Cash Fund with the aim of achieving a high rate of interest and ready access to capital via investment in sterling money markets. The Fund is designed for those looking for a cash fund with a spread of counterparty risk.

Smith & Williamson Enterprise Fund – A share class (£)

The Fund’s proposition is to achieve a target return of 10-12% per annum irrespective of market conditions, aiming to maximise upside whilst controlling downside by going ‘short’ as well as ‘long’ of stocks under the investment powers of UCITS III rules. The Fund has been run by Rupert Fleming and Mark Swain since launch in 2006 and they were joined by Charles Deptford in 2009.

Smith & Williamson European Growth Trust

The Smith & Williamson European Growth Trust is managed by Mark Pignatelli, formerly at Barings and Schroders. The Fund aims to achieve long-term growth of capital primarily through investment in Europe. Mark uses a disciplined screening process that focuses on attractive company characteristics which he believes the market rewards over time.

       

Smith & Williamson Far Eastern Growth Trust

This Fund aims to achieve long-term capital growth through investment in the Pacific Basin region including Japan and Australasia. As well as investing in large companies, Jane also endeavours to find undiscovered smaller companies. Jane Andrews has been managing the fund for over 14 years.

       

Smith & Williamson Global Gold and Resources Fund

The Fund primarily invests in the shares of gold mining, precious metal-related, and resources-based companies quoted on recognised and eligible markets. It aims to deliver capital growth. The Fund is managed in Toronto by Bob Lyon who has nearly 20 years investment experience. He is assisted with the management of the Fund by Ani Markova who has 12 years investment experience.

       

Smith & Williamson North American Trust

The Fund aims to achieve long-term growth of capital primarily through investment in securities quoted on markets in North America.  The Fund is run by the vastly experienced Tana Focke, who has over 35 years of broking and investing in the US.  Robert Royle joined Tana in 2008 having previously been a North American equity analyst.  Robert has primary responsibility for technology and telecoms sectors as well assisting Tana in all other areas. They use their expertise and knowledge to invest in a wide range of companies reflecting growth opportunities in various sectors of North America.

       

Smith & Williamson Oriental Growth Fund

Jane Andrews has over 20 years experience working within the markets in the Far East. The Oriental Growth Fund seeks to capture the potential of the Asia ex-Japan markets. Jane uses her expertise to achieve long-term capital growth through investment in Asia and the Pacific region excluding Japan but including Australasia.

       

Smith & Williamson UK Equity Growth Trust

The Fund aims to achieve long-term growth of capital primarily through investment in the UK.  Managed by Charlie Deptford and assisted by Rupert Fleming, the Fund looks at UK companies with good prospects for above average growth.  The team has considerable experience of managing UK equity funds.

       

Smith & Williamson UK Equity Income Trust

To achieve a high and growing level of income over the long term primarily through investment in the UK. In order to achieve the objective, the strategy is to invest in companies with an above average yield but which at the same time may be reasonably expected to increase their dividends.

       
Fixed Income

Smith & Williamson Fixed Interest Trust

Chris Lynas has been involved with the Smith & Williamson Fixed Interest Trust since its inception in 1995 and has been the primary manager since 1998. Ian Kenny has assisted Chris since 2001. The Fund aims to achieve a high level of income through investment primarily in a variety of investment grade fixed interest instruments. There is no geographical restriction but the managers have a preference for UK and European companies.

       

Smith & Williamson Short-Dated Corporate Bond Fund

The first-to-market Smith & Williamson Short-Dated Corporate Bond Fund launched at the end of April 2009 and is designed to be an attractive complement to cash. Adopting a cautious approach, the Fund is managed by Ian Kenny and assisted by Chris Lynas, and aims to provide a higher yield than cash without excessive credit risk by investing predominantly in short-dated investment grade corporate bonds.

       
Multimanager

Smith & Williamson MM Cautious Growth Fund

The Fund looks to achieve long-term steady capital growth through primarily investing at least 50% of assets in zero dividend preference shares and synthetic zeros. It can also invest in other transferable securities, money market instruments, deposits, collective investment schemes and warrants when appropriate. The Fund has been managed by James Burns since 2001 and the deputy fund manager has been Will Fisher since 2006. 

       

Smith & Williamson MM Endurance Balanced Fund

The Fund has been run by James Burns and Nick Marshall since 2007.  As a team they aim to achieve total return by combining both long-term capital growth with the generation of some income.  The Fund primarily invests in regulated collective investment schemes globally, but usually with a UK bias.  Whilst investing primarily in open-ended funds, James and Nick also have the flexibility to utilise both open and closed ended funds within a multi asset capability, thereby increasing potential for total return.

       

Smith & Williamson MM Global Investment Fund

This UK-domiciled Fund has been actively managed by James Burns since 2005 and deputy fund manager Will Fisher since 2006. James and Will look to achieve long-term growth of capital, together with the generation of some income, through investment in the UK and overseas.  James and Will have designed the fund to replicate a growth-orientated private client portfolio in a single holding suitable for those wishing to invest for capital growth.
